LOCATION
Mui Ne is lucky to not only have wind on a regular basis but to be
situated in one of the most beautiful parts along the Vietnam coast. It
is about 15km from Phan Thiet (the local city) and 4 hours from Saigon.
Mui Ne has a large bay with hotels, bars and restaurants along the
beach; it is one of the best and most unique places for kitesurfing and
windsurfing in Asia.
Sankara Kitesurfing Academy is located in the heart of the Mui Ne
strip, in the center of the bay where there is plenty of space for
beginners and experienced riders.
Our station is partnered with Sankara bar and restaurant, the most
popular place to chill in the day time, and the best place to party any
day of the week. With a fantastic selection of food, beautiful swimming
pool, sun loungers and an amazing beach bar, you have a perfect view of
what’s happening on the water. Even if you don’t
kite, this is a great place to be!! |
LESSONS
& RENTAL
At Sankara Kitesurfing Academy, we offer a range of different
kitesurfing courses, from beginner to intermediate through to expert,
with package deals, hourly tuition and rentals.
Our center is fully equipped with all new Ozone kites 2009, Underground
boards 2010, Mystic harnesses and Malestrom life jackets and helmets.
We also have plenty of beach boys to help you and a compressor (so no
pumping by hand!!).
All of our instructors are International Kiteboarding Organisation
(IKO) qualified and have up to ten years experience of teaching. They
include professional riders and successful competition riders so all
skill levels are covered. The instructors are drawn from many
nationalities and their different styles of teaching mean that there
will be one to suit your requirements. Individual tuition is provided
and tailored to your abilities.
The IKO qualification is recognized worldwide so, when you finish a
course, you will receive an IKO card. This card shows what level you
have reached. Any IKO school in the world will know what you have
achieved and be able to carry on your lessons or rent you equipment.

TOURS
We provide tours around Mui Ne, Dalat and Nha Trang.
WEATHER CONDITION
Here in Mui Ne there are only 2 seasons - one wet and the other dry.
The dry season starts in November and continues until the end of April
- this is the best time to come for wind. During this period, the air
temperature averages 30c and the water temperature 20c-25c, with
sunshine and wind on most days.
The wind blows from left to right, generally cross onshore and side
shore. Starting in the morning around 9am with about 15 knots, it
slowly builds as the day goes on. By the afternoon the sand is flying
and, between 2pm and 4pm, the thermal kicks in with wind speeds
reaching up to 35 knots.
Waves in the dry season can get big - from chest to over-head high.
Don't fear - for anyone wanting to learn, the morning wind is lighter
and the waves are small so schools is on!!!

WHERE TO STAY
Accommodation ranges from 5 star resorts to cheap bungalows on the
beach.
However, if you’re planning on coming in the dry season,
it’s best if you book in advance.

ARRIVAL IN VIETNAM
Flights into Vietnam give you two options:
Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) in the south
Saigon to Mui Ne is a 4 to 5 hour journey.
Local tour and travel agents (Hahn Café) offer 2 types of
buses:
Normal bus 6$
Sleeper bus10$
The buses are cheap but restricted on departure times - 8:30am
& 8:30pm.
If you are willing to pay more, a private mini bus or taxi can be
arranged for around 70$-90$.
Hanoi in the north
You can catch a domestic flight to Nha Trang. From there you have a 5
to 6 hour bus journey:
Normal bus 6$

Private mini bus or taxi can be arranged for 80$-100$
